Arizona's Refuge - for Birds and More (Tuesday, November 14, 2017) The North American lands above the Arctic Circle are
breeding grounds many iconic species of wildlife. Birds migrate from these remote yet
precious breeding grounds to all six continents. Exploitation of fossil fuel resources below
the tundra and the ocean's floor have disrupted and destroyed vast nesting sites and
migration routes. Now these same industries and their political allies threaten what's left –
the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. For the birds, wildlife, and indigenous peoples of the
tundra, and for us – we should care and act. Bill Auberle is Professor Emeritus at Northern
Arizona University. He has 40 years of experience in environmental engineering and
management. Join us from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Southeast Regional Library, 775 N.

sent us to the moon in the 1960s, scientists have been eager to adapt them back here on
Earth to better the planet. That’s exactly what ASU Biodesign Institute researcher Tony Hu
and postdoctoral researcher Dali Sun have recently demonstrated in the fight against
infectious diseases. They’ve developed a simple mobile technology for clinics, hospitals
and health organizations that are on the front lines of triaging outbreaks around the world.

announced financial support Wednesday for Navajo and Hopi communities dealing with the
declining use of coal. About $250,000 goes to Arizona State University for projects related
to the power plant and mine closures. Read more. Water Resources Research Institute Program 104(b) Student Grant Proposal
